Cancer update #12
A short and embarrassingly late update:
I think I last updated after the biopsy on my groin came back with a small amount of cancer in. Since then I had more surgery to remove all the lymph nodes in the right side of my groin. Though the surgery went well, it was a rough couple days in hospital with the flu / tonsillitis. There were lots of panicking doctors trying to find the source of an infection, but it turned out I was just sick.
The result of the surgery was great. No more cancer was found, which means I can officially say I’m cancer free! Doctors are really cautious of using the word remission since the recurrence rate of the cancer is so high, and since the slow growing nature of it mean that there might well be tiny bits hidden somewhere, that we won’t be able to ‘see’ until they have had a year to grow. But, for now, we can find no cancer!
Though free of cancer, my body is still healing. Radiotherapy left me with bad burns that have been infected many times and have now stopped healing. They are very painful and likely to require some more surgery soon to graft new skin over my foot. I’m also very anaemic, which isn’t helping the healing and also tires me.
Please join us in giving thanks to God for His bountiful blessings and continue to pray for healing and peace. I so appreciate the many messages and prayer I have had, even while I’ve been pretty useless at replying and letting people know how everything is going. Truth be told, I got a little fed up of being sick, and didn’t feel like writing about it for a while. Thanks for those who kept prodding me! Much love, Anna.
